If you are an Al Gore-olyte, the following news may be water off a ducks back… or, more to the point, ice off a polar bears butt!

Nevertheless, there is some news that is worth your serious attention and consideration.

Let me explain…

The first point that has lead to I am Jonny King’s findings occurred when an individual, who I now know to be Phelim McAleer, questioned Al Gore about his “inconveniently” claimed movie, citing the British court case, where the judge informed those wanting to show it in schools that at least nine of its claims were scientifically questionable, and they must attach a disclaimer forthwith.

Subsequent to this occasion, late this Saturday night, I noticed that this individual was going to be on a news channel talking about a new movie, he and another Irish sounding lass had put together, titled, Not Evil Just Wrong, and finding their website, I came across what must still be described in tentative terms, as being “possibly” some very startling claims.

Here is a spiel, come synopsis about their flick, but what caught my attention was the news that the significant global warming site in the UK has been hacked, which may have let the polar bear off the iceberg.

Here is how a telegraph article describes it, with some examples of what could “possibly” be some incriminating stuff…

If you own any shares in alternative energy companies I should start dumping them NOW. The conspiracy behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming myth (aka AGW; aka ManBearPig) has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka Hadley CRU) and released 61 megabites of confidential files onto the internet. (Hat tip: Watts Up With That)

When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at Hadley CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest:

“Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.”

One of the alleged emails has a gentle gloat over the death in 2004 of John L Daly (one of the first climate change sceptics, founder of the Still Waiting For Greenhouse site), commenting:

“In an odd way this is cheering news.”

But perhaps the most damaging revelations  – the scientific equivalent of the Telegraph’s MPs’ expenses scandal – are those concerning the way Warmist scientists may variously have manipulated or suppressed evidence in order to support their cause.

The team at Watts Up With That have some more information on what took place, with a rather long list of some of the emails/ details that are up at another site.

Here is how they describe this situation…

An unknown person put postings on some climate skeptic websites that advertised an FTP file on a Russian FTP server, here is the message that was placed on the Air Vent today:

“We feel that climate science is, in the current situation, too important to be kept under wraps.

We hereby release a random selection of correspondence, code, and documents.”

The file was large, about 61 megabytes, containing hundreds of files.

It contained data, code, and emails from Phil Jones at CRU to and from many people.

I’ve seen the file, it appears to be genuine and from CRU. Others who have seen it concur- it appears genuine. There are so many files it appears unlikely that it is a hoax. The effort would be too great.

Mmm!  Brings new meaning to “the Russians are Coming!”

Finally, our very own Ian Wishart has interviewed Phil Jones, the head of this unit in the UK, with Wishart affirming the following…

The director of Britain’s leading Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones, has told Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition tonight that his organization has been hacked, and the data flying all over the internet appears to be genuine.

In an exclusive interview, Jones told TGIF, “It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago that someone had hacked into our system and taken and copied loads of data files and emails.”

“Have you alerted police”

“Not yet. We were not aware of what had been taken.”

Jones says he was first tipped off to the security breach by colleagues at the website RealClimate.

“Real Climate were given information, but took it down off their site and told me they would send it across to me. They didn’t do that. I only found out it had been released five minutes ago.”

TGIF asked Jones about the controversial email discussing “hiding the decline”, and Jones explained what he was trying to say….

Further to this, “Boballab” in the comments section on Wishart’s site has also affirmed the following…

Well some of the emails have been confirmed as 100% Authentic. Steve McIntyre on ClimateAudit says the ones that are in the zip are his.

For a long time we have heard of a tipping point, could this be the visible portion of the iceberg that will, in time, affirm how much more anti-science has been going on underneath?

No doubt there will be attempts to explain the information that has been exposed away, assuming it is legitimate, of course.
