Steven Curtis Chapman on the Loss of his Child, the Journey Since, and the New Album!

I don’t know about you, but I can still remember hearing about the tragedy involving the Chapman’s adopted five year old, Maria Sue Chapman, who was promoted to glory.

Given the details, which you can read a little about by clicking on her name, and how heart-breaking and painful such a time would have been, with the experience and the call to journey on, being neither short nor smooth, it is a blessing to hear from the man!

When I hear such accounts, I can not help but to reflect on those children God has given Shannon and I to steward, and such fills me with empathy and emotion, as we weep with those who are weeping!

Christianity Today has an interview with the man as he reflects on that time, the painful journey subsequently, what they have been able to complete in Maria’s memory, and the album, Beauty Will Rise, that has been birthed through trial and tragedy, which is due for release in the near future.

I can’t say that I have been a Steven Curtis Chapman fan, but the narrative surrounding this album, the initial track that I have heard, and the depth of lyrics that one perceives from all accounts, means that this album could be one to add to your own personal collection, or maybe even buy for someone you know who may have suffered similar tragedy.  One thing I noted in my brief look at the comments on the youtube pages [which I got the following tracks from], were the comments from people who were thankful for this message in song, as they had lost their own child, and had found grace through Chapman’s music and lyrics.

Such may be true for you, or someone you know!
