Not Hinn Again!

Okay, so that was a little lame, but the Lord has strengthened my blogging legs, so it is time move on!

I am going to play blog-sucker for you, and leach together some material on the Benny Hillnn Show that I have sourced on the blogosphere.

Justin “the Source” Taylor has a couple of posts, with videos to prove it, on subjects relating to the man.

Taylor affirms from this piece the following about Him… and Hinn

  • cost of his 7,000 sq-ft house: $10-million
  • amount spent per month for his private jet: $112,000
  • price of his two cars: $80,000 each
  • cost per night for staying at 5,400 sq ft luxury hotel room during a “layover”: $10,800 per night paid
  • tips for a 3-day period: $4,500.

So what you say!  Is such paradigmatic?

If you want more info., check out Taylor’s post, which has a couple of videos to boot!

Recently Benny was interviewed on Nightline in the States.  Here he is for your viewing pleasure discernment!

Thanks to “The Source,” here it is!

You can also catch some good commentary from Joe “I can still see your namesake gyrating around all the bases in Toronto for the Blue Jays in the World Series Carter”… I wanted Philly BTW!  However, that was then and this is now, and its all the Bronx Bombers for me!

What say you… about Benny, not the Bombers?

Even if one wants to claim that God has spoken and acted through the ministry of Benny Hinn, which I would not be surprised about, although such a defense I believe, is asking the wrong question Nebuchadnezzar.  God has already affirmed that He can work through any man for His purposes, and He can also speak through a donkey, and it was a dumb ass too… the donkey, that is!

The question is not whether it works or the subsequent effects, which is often how the discussion is framed in this man’s context.  Remember, such can also be replicated, but from a very different source!

Does the man minister the TRUTH!

I know that may sound like an open-ended answer, but time is not on my side, and I have an essay to write! Therefore, it is time to encourage wisdom to cry out into your streets!

Anyway, feel free to knock me over [its beginning to flow] with your wrath for touching the anointed One… and here was I thinking that there was only one such individual, who started with the letter “B” in the US context, who had such a title… O well, stimulus me, and I will reform!

To encourage you on your way, let me finish with these two quotes, which, if you are interested, float over that lovely picture changer when you put your mouse over each photo [seriously, there is some wisdom from above there]…

The difference between truth and error is not a chasm, but a razor’s edge – John Murray.

Discernment is not a matter of simply telling the difference between what is right and wrong; rather it is the difference between what is right and almost right – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Seriously, such may be an opportunity to pray that God’s grace or, if he continues [have I already spoken?], God’s judgment would be more evident in the life and ministry of this man.  The church needs leaders who they can prayerfully trust such is a true shepherd of the sheep, not only in pastoral matters, where the Shepherd metaphor finds its resonance, but as a paradigm of direction as it relates to all matters of faith and practice!

Until Next Time

    Well said (or written)!

    Freeeeedooooooom!

Great Movie! I remember after watching it, I couldn’t believe they did that to young William Wallace!

Good to hear from you again Sid… the real online version!

Thanks for your comments… look forward to hearing from you again!!!

  3. Firstly, just a couple of things. Any man who can wear a white suit and get away with it certainly has something special within him. Even Daniel Vettori on the first morning of a test match looks a little nervous wearing the all whites. Rodger Federer can pull the all white look off as equally as effective as the Hinn-Mister.

Secondly, anyone who wears one of the those mics on the side of the face, like madonna, is a little suspect if you ask me.

So there you have it. On the one hand this man is amazing, on the other a little suspect.

However, I did go to a Hinn Circus event when he came to Christchurch a few years ago and to say I was doubtful before was an understatement. However, the service actually changed my mind as it was very different to the TV clips we get. I am in no way a Hinn fan but seeing the whole thing live is different to the TV show.

I hear what you’re saying Oz… white suits… Boss Hogg style… Dukes of Hazard!

There is much that can be rightly critiqued and talked about with Hinn and healing ministries in general. However, the part that is disappointing is that what I view is an incorrect focus helps to encourage the overtly skeptical about the supernatural in our western context.

I would love to see more of the genuine-type of the overtly miraculous intersect in our contexts [including more Christian conversion, as spiritually dead man coming to newness of life, is truly of the first order], as by all accounts from trustworthy individuals in other lands, this is not so much the exception.

However, putting God in a box ministries are not helpful, or I believe biblical, and when this happens on both sides, where there is either a God-does-not-heal-today mentality, or a God-will-always-heal-if-we-just-add-water approach… such perspectives fail to integrate the comprehensive biblical message on this subject!

We need to skirt the radical middle [as a student friend would say]!

As someone who has prayed for people and seen God move, and as someone who has prayed for God to heal me and move me on… and is still sick, I understand both realities!

The Oz Man, you are on commenting fire tonight… you haven’t taken blog steroids?… Nevertheless, it is great to have you here.

You were pretty close with the AB’s score… Big weekend coming… Canterbury… AB’s… Kiwis

    Good chatting with ya!

    Hey Bob,

I just saw this article that was on Challies site where Mel Gibson affirms that he had played fast and loose with the historical facts of William Wallace’s life. It seems he was not the fearless hero of his Hollywood vision, but not as bad as Gibson is now affirming.

I had heard rumors of Hollywood revisionism, but who wants to ruin a good story…

I thought of your gravatar, when I saw this!
