For all those afflicted with a biblical disease, of the purest sorts, we all have Preachers, Speakers, Authors and Theologians who seem to speak and write with greater force, clarity and intensity that speaks with more resonance to our given context, which means that we get rather excited about the grace of God that is revealed through their ministerial moments.
One of the flavours of what has been many months for I am Jonny King is Tim Keller!
Introducing…
While one could jump into an explanation of why this is so, instead, I am Jonny King, who is want to come up with nicknames [when one provides ones own label as it is a sign of respect], will let his nickname do the talking… well, most if it, anyway!
Re-Introducing…
Tim “the Cardiologist” Keller… the man who is able to get to the heart of the matter, biblically, culturally, individually, and corporately… well, most of the time anyway!
I am Jonny King has already posted about Keller’s new book [as well as some other resources... the Notable Quotable page being one such instance], and I am just about to pre-order it in the coming days. However, thanks to James H. Grant, Jrs. blog, In Light of the Gospel, I can now inform you that you can download and read the Introduction to Counterfeit Gods:The Empty Promises of Money, Sex, and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters for FREE!
Also, thanks to Justin Taylor, whose “super-duper” blog, Between Two Worlds, which is settling into its new “digs” at… The Gospel Coalition, informs us, as he is prone to do, that one can read Keller’s take on the Pro’s and Con’s of the Reformed, the Emerging, and the Willow Creekers within Evangelicalism, after Keller’s time with “Bill going long for the Hybel.”

In closing, what this jocularity of I am Jonny King is really affirming about Tim Keller is that God has gifted and is using this man’s ministry at such a time as this, to both speak into the lives of New Yorkers, and even all the way into the lives of New Zealanders, about the Gospel effects of a life transformed by the grace of God that is resonating both within to without our puny existences, where we see redemption on a larger scale as something not only about me individually, but us corporately, as we seek to affirm that while God’s kingdom is not of this world, His claim is very much alive and well, and it is calling still!
Therefore, readeem the time [Eph. 5:16]!
