The digital media of iamjonnyking has taken its next evolution with the establishment of the Shakespearean Rugby Club.
What the heck, you may be thinking.
Let me explain by starting with a little history.
It would be the start of 2009 that I began to offer my distinctive ruminations and remonstrations on any number of subject matters, as the encouragement and assistance of some kiwi brethren would provide the means necessary to communicate in a digital world.

You will understand that sport has always been a primary passion and while it had its place, it needed a home just of its own, which encouraged me to solidify and ‘singularfy’ the focus, providing an outworking that justified the proliferation of words.
Sport was the winner, with rugby the trophy, which grew as others wanted their own return of the King.
This encouraged another design job, a new theme, and a growing concept that most will have witnessed up until this point in time.
Look Familiar? Gone, but not Forgotten!
Why now, Shakespearean?
As my time has grown in the mediated and immediate world of social media, those who endured my flow remarked about the individual flow, with this idea starting with a tweet some time ago.
iamjonnyking what to say??? A Shakespeare of our times for sure! In a time where all is too fast you know how to take your time and be smart.
In the course of time others would comment, with the most well known, gold-labelling the connection, affirming the moniker as the Shakespeare of Rugby. This theme would grow, and as an idea of establishing something that reflected my genius or lack thereof, while getting more connected with the people and the game, Shakespearean… Rugby… Club… a three-part, sporting, social, and media harmony.
Therefore, after that Tournament, iamjonnyking began to contemplate what should happen next, with a desire to grow something that finds its locus in my name, but even more so, in a larger idea.
We will have much more to say about this in the coming days to weeks, but you are all invited to join this movement.
As always, while we will mostly talk rugby, we do have so much more in our sporting world that will grace these digital pages, as you can already read. I have been reminded, as I have considered our context, about some sporting clubs in South America that have morphed from one into other.
We want to create a culture. a movement. a tribe. a room with a view. a place to come and read, reflect, and contribute.
Let me also say that we want it to follow its leader – and have a personality of its own. Rugby like any cultural context tends to work in the stereotypes. Given the look and vibe in this place, we welcome all rugby fans, rejects, poets, and lovers.
May we represent the following:
ShakespeareanRugbyClub: If The Purpose of Your Art is the Consummation of Creative Expression; Popular Perception Becomes a Footnote Referenced by the Illiterate.
The point is not to be bound by popular expression, but living free with content of our convictions.
The whole point of rugby is that it is, first and foremost, a state of mind, a spirit – Jean Pierre Rives
On the Shakespeare Rugby Club, we like to express different levels of engagement, not afraid of taking the Michael Mouse, while also going deep, and we do so unlike any other rugby, even sporting site – for better or for worse.
For Now, let us step back and take a look at my designing work over the recent while.
What do you think about the new look, new vibe, new concept?
This is a much wider theme that returns to the left, which means it may look a little different depending on your piece of viewing, but the design was intended to be minimal, but funky-do-distinctive – like it or loathe it, blame me!
We will leave it here in this post.
I hope you are as excited as we are, and ready to join us in this journey.
SupeRugby is just round the corner and we have an idea for maximising its potential.
What Say You?
Until Next Time
