Earth Hour? Kyoto? Heaven Help Us!!!
I was shocked and dismayed to read that Al Gore, yes Al Gore, the man who knows no limits in his quest to save the planet from “goodness gracious great balls of fire” did not dim the lights for earth hour… how could he, of all people, he knows that if we don’t turn, we will burn… Repent, mankind, Repent, O evil carbon abusers, turn to the light by running to the darkness!
Why don’t we listen to that southern sage? why, Why, WHY?!
If my tomfoolery has not given it away, I do not drink the kool-aid for catastrophic climate change. The emphasis on “catastrophic” is intentional, as those who are labeled “skeptics” generally say there will be some warming, but not to the extreme of some boiling reality.
However, don’t let that kind of intellectual nuance by a couple of oil drinking nut jobs blur what is staring you at the face. I ask you to ignore the 31, 478 American Scientists, including 9,029 with PhD’s who disagree with Al Gore documented here. I mean what do they know, Al, after all, has a B.A. in Government (which means I am just as qualified)!
Also, you should ignore the more than 700 international scientists that are recorded here… remember, the science is settled.
What does this prove? There is more than one nut job!
In a recent debate, an alarmist was asked how many “experts” on the IPCC’s list of 3500 (or is it 2500) of the world’s top scientists, were actually climate experts? After redefining the limits of the question to include any who had some experience, the answer was nonetheless, revealing, the individual said 20%. Look at these analyses of so-called IPCC experts here and here.
You may also be happy to trust the 20 plus climate models that don’t like each other, but you may want to look here, and think again, then read here.
I do have to say that you gotta hand it to the PR guys who have deftly spun their way from “global warming” to “climate change.” You gotta love those theories that spin their way to the place where truth vs falsification is as relevant as a hanging chad. I mean, blaming carbon for warmer temps is one thing, but if it starts to get cooler… problem, well that’s not quite true as carbon has played the harlot to global cooling before.
Therefore, time to bring in “climate change.” Your all purpose “term” player. If it rains, climate change… wind, climate change… snow, climate change… four seasons in one season…. well that’s climate change, stupid.
Talk about trying to find a market for a water proof tea bag, that has nothing on this, and we have swallowed it.
Sorry, Al, I have to admit, the hanging chad was a bit of cheap shot, after all, if you only had Florida, just think, the White House would have been yours.
You were that close, you could have ruined the US economy all by yourself, and years earlier!
Now, we could be here for days talking about why the science is not settled and why climate change policy is a bad idea, and there are many more capable people who can do this (these will be documented).
While this dialogue is important, it is really still at a theoretical level as far as impacting society and culture.
Therefore, it is helpful to clear away this brouhaha, and ask a practical question that I believe illuminates the actions that are being encouraged to help save this planet… namely Kyoto, which will throw light on whether the claimed seriousness of this so-called scenario will indeed, be our reality.
What temperature impact will Kyoto have on reducing global warming?
Let me quote from Christopher Horner’s Politically Incorrect Guide…
Thomas Wigley of the National Center for Atmospheric Research asked what effect Kyoto would have on warming. He examined many different scenarios, and concluded: “in all cases, the long-term consequences are small.” Wigley – firmly entrenched in the alarmist camp, mind you – estimates that in 2100, global-mean temperatures will have risen just over 2 degrees Celsius in the absence of the Kyoto Protocol. Wigley says that complying with Kyoto would reduce global warming by 0.08 degrees C – probably the difference between your right arm and your left arm right now (emphasis mine).
To give some balance to such alarmism (chuckle, chuckle), I will also quote from Horner’s new book, Red Hot Lies, from a skeptic on the same question, Pat Michaels
“If the entire world (including the United States) fully met their emissions reduction obligations laid out in the Kyoto Protocol (which, by the look of things, few if any countries will actually achieve) that the amount of future global warming that would be ‘saved’ would amount to about 0.07 C by the year 2050 and 0.15 C by 2100” (emphasis mine).
Is the penny dropping as you read this?
This is whack!!!
You are being told that you are facing the biggest environmental issue… period, and the solution to massive temperature rises caused by the evil warlord, carbon, is to implement and push a policy called Kyoto, which we will probably not even be able to meet, which will help reduce the supposedly rapidly rising temperatures by squat.
To put it plainly, it will achieve, “how should I word this”… NOTHING.
You could pin a tail on this and call it a weasel (thanks Monty Python)!
If you don’t smell a rat at this point, you may not be thinking.
If those who are pushing this theory really believe that their scenarios are going to come true, you would not be suggesting Kyoto as your answer, you would at least be suggesting Japan!
It is simply nonsensical to believe otherwise.
How much will Kyoto cost?
Bjorn Lomborg has said that the Kyoto treaty has an estimated cost of between US$150 and $350 billion a year, starting in 2010, affirmed here
While Steve Milloy has estimated that since coming into effect February 16, 2005, the Kyoto Protocol has cost the world about US $621, 816, 085, 148 (and counting)… Guess that means for the bargain price of just $100 trillion we could theoretically lower global mean temperature by about 1 C as detailed here
There we have it, ladies and gentlemen, even a used car salesman could not pull that deal off, and yet, today, this is what we are bring sold, and we take the deal… suckers!
It really does not matter if you believe global warming to be true or not, the answers that we are being given, the answers that we are being told that we need to put into practice to solve this “issue” WILL DO NOTHING, but will cost BILLIONS.
Sounds like a wisdom-based plan to me!
Who would suggest such a solution? Certainly not someone who wants to solve the problem (assuming there is one)!
Therefore, one does not even need to look into the science (and I have) to perceive that stopping global warming is not the end, it surely must be the means to another end!
What is that end?
It is worth reflecting upon!
All this dialogue does not even take into account our Creator’s perspective on this issue, which we will do in our next rendezvous!
Until Next Time

Websites
There sites are not necessarily the absolute best, but they are representative and will help get you started, and will help link you to others.
Dr Roy Spencer’s blog, who is an Evangelical Christian, a climatologist, former NASA scientist, and author.
From a biblical perspective Cornwall Alliance is a great site, gotta love their little video on their home page.
Icecap US, which will keep you up-to-date with any news.
Steve Milloy’s Junk Science is another with much information.
The Science and Public Policy Institute has many articles that may help in this regard.
For all you Kiwi’s, here is the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition site.
As I have said, there are many other sites, check out the links on this page for example, for some other sites.
Books
The three best books that I have read are two by Christopher Horner and one by Dr. Roy Spencer
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism by Christopher C. Horner
Red Hot Lies: How Global Warming Alarmists Use Threats, Fraud, and Deception to Keep You Misinformed by Christopher C. Horner
Climate Confusion: How Global Warming Hysteria Leads to Bad Science, Pandering Politicians and Misguided Policies that Hurt the Poor by Roy Spencer
There is also a new book coming out by evangelical Kiwi, Ian Wishart, titled, Air Con. Check it out here
