Demon Hunter: Article, New Album, and New Video

Just before you are thinking to asking… Yes, this is a Christian band!  Okay, so it may not be your cup of coke, particularly if you’re a fan of the Gaither’s, but don’t get fooled by your own perceptions, as you can read all about it…soon!

The reason that I am Jonny King has been aware of this band of the metallic sort, is that the teenager in the house is a fan, and so the roaring has been resonating recently!

I have to admit that the fully exposed roaring-to-screaming is not my kool-aid, although, having listened to their first track of their newest album, their fifth studio album, The World is a Thorn, such a sound is a move in the right direction, with the melodic move balancing their musical act!

Before we get to that point, we need to deal with this point, which are some details in a recent articled-post, which focuses on this act.  The following are some highlights to draw you west for more (note: to overseas readers, to be referred to as a “westie” in NZ denotes Metal-head activity).

The indievisionmusic article begins this way…

It’s rare that a heavy metal band delivers on the promise of a record that’s “heavier than ever yet more melodic,” but Demon Hunter has done exactly that with The World is a Thorn, their fifth studio album.

The World is a Thorn follows the breathtaking and sometimes heartbreaking documentary 45 Days and a catalog of landmark albums that have made the band one of the most important in the genre. It was produced by longtime collaborator Aaron Sprinkle (Acceptance, Anberlin, The Almost) and mixed by Jason Suecof (All That Remains, Trivium, Chimaira). It’s a pairing emblematic of how skillfully Demon Hunter has always blended metallic might with melody.

The following words are significant for you Thomas-like readers…

Demon Hunter has always been a Christian band and has represented their point of view strongly, despite the larger trend of watered down philosophies that straddle the line for popularity’s sake. This stance has won them respect from fellow believers and opposite points of view alike.

“In this age it has seemingly become more and more detestable to be a Christian,” Clark elaborates. “Our opinions on social and political issues are no longer tolerated as valid and we are commonly viewed as the enemy. Subjective truth, self-love, unrestricted perversion, the destruction of morality: these are the things that have ultimately brought us to a place of depression and madness.

“This album is the antithesis of the modern way of life.”

Man of Spin encourages you to go and read the whole article, which will download more information for the fans, particularly about this new album, The World is a Thorn, which you can find… HERE!

However, you will also want to go to the following link and check out their new single, Collapsing, which I have listened to… and, it is a good sound!  To listen to this single… Go HERE!
