We could just invite the ARC – Auckland Regional Council – We know they are in for a good time.
Now that should be a Tui Billboard… Yes, for all visitors unaware of our kiwi culture, these are/were billboards located around New Zealand with the phrase, “YEAH RIGHT,” attached. In other words, like what has just been stated is ever gonna happen. As it relates to the ARC, it has become clear that they occupy a very surreal space… with unicorns!
As the Vuvuzela has been termed “unsound”… and unclean in our Rugby Union context, we may have to be creative.
This was one idea I tweeted about…
I know they have banned Vuvuzelas from the RWC, but if 30,000 people take their pet duck or family beehive 2 Eden Park. The Noise is On!
Okay, so I was only partly serious… Wink, Wink!
This is something we should be thinking about, even for this Saturday as the All Black brethren take on the South African Bokke.
Culturally, we are complacent and “dead people watching” at a Rugby match. However, this should not be viewed as endemic within the Kiwi conservatism, as I was at the Fifa World Cup Qualifier versus Bahrain. Never have I witnessed so many grown individuals lose their dignified circumspection and get into a game, like it was their last Saturday night in the Capital.
What this means is that it has nothing to do with missing out on the spectacle per see, as the noise that were the spectators had their eyes transfixed on what was about to unfold.
As you read this… getting any pangs of melancholy of the Fifa World Cup that is no more? ![]()
Now, the continuous action in Football could possibly be an encouragement, but given the breaks in Union, what better opportunity to crank out a soul-stirring number than at such times.
This question deserves further investigation and ideas.
No doubt, the good team at BackingBlack will stay on the case, as this is the time for us to… quoting myself… “Stand up and sing, even out loud.”
Please unload your thinking thoughts and opinions.
I have to say that as musical numbers go that fit out culture and can both inspire, while warming the heart, “Loyal,” by our Dave… Dobbyn, will struggle to be beaten in our kiwi context, in my present opinion.
Although, in saying that, “Anchor Me,” by the Muttonbirds, with that stirring chorus, raises the kiwi forth from within-to-without! In fact, as I listen to it now, I can’t help to notice that amount of dust in my office… if you know what I mean!
Let me know what you think in this regard… Please be yourself, but also be frank!
Its Been Special
