I was interested to read Andy Moore’s recent run-in with Facebook, and their decision to suspend his account for a period of time, for having the Gaul to affirm the scandalous reality of what takes place in the death squad process in the abolition and hope of human life!
When you actually “see” the reality of what is terminated, any thoughts about theory are immediately moved to practice, and the enormity of what takes place is fully grasped.
As I reflect on this, I am also reminded of the man in Christchurch who would stand with his billboards outside the clinic [on the one way street... I forget its name] day after day, as a silent protest that such was not okay, and to do nothing followed in-kind. As I went to a Christian school in my high school years, this mature gentleman came and spoke with us about his ministry, which I remember was highly impacting at the time, as his actions underscored his words.
Why am I bringing these reflections forward, particularly in light of that header?
Here’s the illumination…
The reason for these reflections is connected with a recent activity that I am Jonny King has played a part in. A couple of months ago, I was asked to put my creative cap on, some who read my posts may say struggle to believe that I take it off… Nevertheless, the individual/s in question were in the planning stage about putting together some banners that can be used on websites, where a one-liner and an effective image could effectively communicate a message.
Therefore, I am Jonny King came up with some one-liner type quips that could be used for such a purpose.
As it happens on occasions, when the wine flows, it can come quickly, and over the next few days [at the time], periodically, I would stop and write down any theoretically bright ideas.
Therefore, I have quite a long list of one-liners that I have come up with that I have passed on. However, in communicating with the said-individual, I have decided to put these on I am Jonny King for you to read through and maybe even give your opinion on which are the best ones… or better ones for the critic!

A bit off topic …
Something I noticed in most debates around smacking bill is that they are geared towards adults vs children.
Are we forgetting that these children are going to be adults too? Have children of their own too? When we fight for the rights of adults to discipline their children, we’re also fighting for the rights of our children to discipline their children. So in the case of smacking bill, the bill does not give rights to children, it is actually taking rights from these children to discipline their children in the future.

I thought about putting them in a couple or three posts, but decided to throw them all together!
There may be 70 plus, but being short and pithy, there is not too many words… well for me, anyway!
While it is true what you are saying [in your rant, as you describe it], this is quite an ideologically driven battle, therefore, those parents who are making decisions today, believe this is the best thing for their children, and believe their children should follow suit, and this would be true for both sides, which will also encourage you as you view this decision as negatively impacting on our children.
The issue is that you are on the side of the majority… and the Word of God I might add, which means that you are correct… and you are viewing those taking the other perspective through this paradigm.
So both sides will claim they are thinking of their children, it’s just that they come to different conclusions.
For example, I believe that such discipline is biblical, wise, and when done in love, effective, and because of this, I believe my children should follow suit. Therefore, when I make such decisions and parent my children, I am mindful that what I do says more than I what I say, especially if my actions do not back up my words!
Modeling truth is so important for parents. It is also one of the toughest things for parents, as it challenges our sins, which is more about what we do than what we say, but it is also one of the most redeeming, rewarding, and grace-filled benefits of parenting for both parent and child, and I have learnt so much about my own frailties and failings from parenting of my 15-16 year old, and experienced God’s grace as a means of this responsibility!

Here’s an idea about the quotes…. Do twenty at a time… pick your best 3-5… once you have gone right through, you will have about 17-20, then you could break it down that way to 5!
Therefore, it won’t seem so daunting… and you will get through it.

I hear what you are saying about the ads, although, I would also affirm that even if the “God” ads are targetted at everyone, at the very least, it is affirming the ultimate source for why all human life has worth… “imago dei,” and His perspective on the issue, which helps to frame the issue!
I am not your individual for the job Andy. If I was going to commit to something like this, I would need to be able to follow through, and make it happen. Given my long-term health issues [read the "about me" page], the impact that this presently plays, the direction that I am presently taking with trying to complete some study, without taking all else into account, I could not follow through faithfully.
However, where I am, particularly through blogging, raising awareness, or using some creativity, I am more than willing to speak for those who have been silenced!
If I may perceive, I would think that your ministry is one where most Christian agree, but most would rather do nothing about it, which means that, at times, it could get disheartening and frustrating, as you want to do so muc more, and see faith put into action.
If this is my personal caricature, than I do apologise, but I do want to encourage you in persevering in where God has placed you!

We need more believers who are willing to let their actions speak as loud as their words. With the growing number of Christian bloggers, and I am one who has started this year, we can continue to grow a groundswell, particularly as this form of communication grows as a modus operandi where people are informed, and at the very least inform those who may feel too timid, that there are people standing that they can join with… whatever that movement may be!
