What an Epic Success!
The All Whites have proven that where there is a will that will not give way, you can do great things if you only, in the words of another Winston, “Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give in. Never give in. Never give in. Never give in” [thanks to here].
I have to admit that awaking this morning, after our Futbol final fling, I did have a twing of regret. Yes, take me back a couple of weeks, before the circus got started, and I would have taken a third of what we were treated to by our White knights. However, once expectations are given wings, it is tough to keep them grounded, even when one try’s their utmost. Leading up to the Paraguay match, I did my best to view the result in the context of my pre-tournament perspective, and not in light of Italy 1 – New Zealand 1, and while I have been enabled, it has not been without a moments reflection.
Nevertheless, All Whites Supporter, New Zealander, as this has grabbed our nation by the collar, and planted its first kiss, may this be the beginning of a beautiful relationship with Soccer/ Futbol in our Land of Aotearoa. Yes, we bleed Black, All Black, but in a sporting context, monogamy is really over-rated, and our cup is over-runneth with a desire to see our sporting elites prove that a New Zealand sports-person-to-victory is the ultimate hook-up in a life-time.
While this World Cup time was a little akin to a dream, All Whites, we are thankful that you have made it our reality, even though you had to wake us all up, in the middle of the night!
