2Visit: You Gotta Go To… “I am Second”
As the name of this website come ministry has put it, I am Second wants to communicate a message to you, which is this… Someone Else is First… This is a ‘Guess Who’ game that every player should get, which is exactly the point that this site evocatively speaks to.
Framed with multiple media [video] of famous folk to Neville Nobodies filling the screen, accompanied by an ensemble of one chair and one light, the viewer is presented with frank, open and honest testimonies of the genius of salvation in Christ [and the reason for His impact thereof], but also, seemingly more significant, many challenging and many times tragic storyline that is the human condition post-Adam, offering many stark examples of broken people, sometimes breaking before you, speaking to the Source that provides the means where wholeness was sought, gained and guaranteed in and through the Only One who can close the deal to delivery… this being the redemption-gift that is the Gospel of God’s grace, in Christ.

Let me explain a little of my experience
After one faithfully enters the URL and clicks enter, one is taken to a page, with the words “I am Second”, black on white, if not to affirm the darkness to light perspective of the slide-show of faces on display, who are thus afflicted, with the invitation to run the picket line and click on one of 25 [or so] individuals who are prepared to tell their story of how in becoming Second, they were really made to experience First!
If you are familiar with US culture, many of these names should be familiar, with individuals such as Greg Ellis [NFL player], Josh Hamilton [MLB player], Mike Huckabee [Ex-Governor and wanted to be President], Jason Witten [NFL player], Stephen Baldwin [Actor], Darrell Waltrip [Nascar - retired I believe], Brian ‘Head’ Welch [Ex-Guitarist for Korn] offering up their story [there are others as well]. I have personally viewed the videos of Ellis, Hamilton, Huckabee, and Welch.
While the videos of those who have more notoriety were impacting, particularly Hamilton and Welch, I found the videos from people that I had no idea of, speak so definitively and powerfully. These were from Joe Citizen, much the same as the majority of those who will view these videos, who also have to deal with some or certain of the same challenges that confronted these people behind closed doors, away from the viewing and public eye… who also need to see people who look and sound like them, whose sound resonates with and echoes their story, but who also at the same time, are very different from them, because of Christ, which helps them to connect [this is a key point in all our evangelistic pursuits]!
Call me a cry baby, but the ugliness of sin and the beauty of Christ is displayed in vivid reality for all to see, with some more dramatic than others.

I viewed the videos of Rod Bayron, Shannon Culpepper, and Priscilla Nicoara, but the two videos that really impacted me were of Karen Green, whose raw and real account of too many in our cultures around this globe, who went from hope-less to hope-indeed-full. However, the account of ex-Pastor Nick Larkin that radically displayed the difference between religiosity-centredness and Gospel-centredness, which we Christians too often confusingly present to a World that needs the gift, was very potent and particularly relevant in our cultural climate!
Once you have viewed a video, wait there is more!
There are also other resources that offer viewers more information on the individual in question, other similar videos, with the opportunity to also learn more, with such questions answered as, “Why does God allow bad stuff to happen?” While the answers are not comprehensive [and I have not viewed many at all], it should serve its purpose as a first-step for the inquirer in the search for truth!
I am Jonny King can not remember exactly where he sourced this site from, but it is certainly a site that would be worth your inspection, visitation, and promotion, particularly as a first step type vehicle for friends, family, and enemies, who are far from Home, and need such reality.
You will not only be blessed by the human encounters, but you should be stoked with the quality of both the design and the styley cinematography and cut of the clips that helps to create what is overall, a quality production, which is sadly not always evident in such a Christian context, where sentiment is often an acceptable standard [which the following article also affirms]!
If you want to read more about this, you can read this article from the Dallas Morning News site that details how this first started, where it is heading, and the impact that it has had.
You can also join a Facebook group that has been started… I am sure you can work out the name of this group, and where to find it!
Have a look, and if you look at any of the videos I have mentioned or any others, don’t be afraid to unleash your beast… and comment, that is!

Now Go to I am Second!
Until Next Time
I am Jonny King
Postscript: I have since viewed the videos of Lee Lucas, Jason Castro, Chris Plekenpol, Jason Witten, and Stephen Baldwin, which I think has further broadened the scope, balance, and possible target audience, with many of these videos increasing the number of those aimed at the already called Home, affirming the significance in their lives of the One who is in First. I was particularly impacted by Christ Plekenpol’s frank and honest testimony of his time at war, the impact on his faith, and his actions in contradistinction to Christ’s.
Don’t take my word for it… Go!

Cool site. I see it has been going a while. The movies are very captivating and engaging. I have watched a few.
Cool concept too. We should all be second. Third actually if you cant your wife or husband. Actually we should all be LAST and put others first.
Agree Ozy… Very Compelling… Did you watch the videos of Chris Plekenpol and Nick Larkin?… Of the videos I watched, the message framed by these two individuals was very potent!
Which ones stood out for you?
The site and your comments reminds me of the song we use to sing at Sunday School… J-O-Y… Jesus first, Yourself last, and Others in between!
I can’t let you go without commenting on the Rugby and the return of DC… What a finish… Did you wake your boys?.. I am prone to outbursts of exuberance on such occasions!
I see your blog is coming together nicely. It loads so much quicker than when it was on blogger. I see you are posting like the UPS… Good Stuff!
A Question… Is the Thumbs Up addition in your comments section related to “Stumble Upon” or something else?

[...] However, there is also another game taking place this weekend that has caught my interest, which is the Long Horns vs the Sooners, Texas vs Oklahoma, and while I was made “sportscenter” aware of this game, the reason it has peeked my interest relates to the faith of the two star players in this game, Sam ‘I have one Heisman” Bradford for the Sooner and Colt “I may get one soon” McCoy for the Long Horns, and thanks to Michael Patton’s facebook friendship, I was made aware of some more additions to the IamSecond site that I am Jonny King has already spoken about Here!
